I started it on the beach itself, sketching in the tree and the sea directly from life, then finished it later in the studio with palette knife and brush. The thick layers of oil paint capture the sand, the umbrellas, and the movement of people along the water's edge, a warm slice of summer in Tel Aviv caught first outdoors and then refined at home.
